ISP using SPI (as JTAG variant) wiring for ATMEGA168 | PCB Design

ISP using SPI (as JTAG variant) wiring for ATMEGA168
Version 1 - Last update: Oct 3, 2015

To program the ATMEGA168 you can use ISP using the SPI connectivity of the MCU. This SPI can be accesses from a JTAG enabled programmer (like the JTAGICE mkII). This wiring shows the required connections, as well as additional capacitors (0.1 micro F) to further ease out any ripples. The MCU's reset pin is pulled up by a 10K Ohm resistor, is connected to ground through a momentary switch that is off by default and to the reset pin of the SPI.
